The Preamble and What it Means To Me




 The Preamble

We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.



The preamble is very important. For myself, it signifies what it means to be an American. It gives me reassurance and security to know that the Constitution of the United States is/was made to protect me and all of the citizens around me, no matter what race, gender or ethnicity that we may be. It gives me the satisfaction of being proud to be from such an amazing country that, in a sense, I and other citizens have a say in what is done. It paves the path for the Constitution and what America stands for: freedom and equality.


It was hard for me to find a video that truly spoke the meaning of the preamble to me, but this was the closest that I could find. I chose this video because it is a little more modernized. It also talks about Medicare which I truly believe in and that is what stood out most to me. At the beginning he also says how we can be one big reunion and I like that a lot as all of us people can come together as one in equality.
