The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Amendment four protects us as citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures, or in other words, it prevents the police from being able to search your car, house, etc. from being searched without a warrant or "probable clause". The reason I put probable clause in quotations is because I do believe the law enforcement bends this rule quite often. As a citizen myself, I am double-sided on this amendment. I believe that the law enforcement bends the amendment so much that it has lost some meaning to me. At the same time though there are officers out there who DO follow the guidelines and will only search with a warrant or a legitimate reason; in this case I am all for the fourth amendment. I believe this amendment is an important one, a very important one. I am thankful for it for sure; although I do think I have been a victim of unreasonable search (too bad I didn't know my rights by heart then).
I chose this video because I think it is very informational and can help people understand the amendment and how it works in a better way.
because I like it a lot. It's funny and it pertains to the fourth amendment. It is kind of just a way to show that you are American and can exercise your rights at all times.
